Planning ahead for an Orlando Office Renovation

The Orlando area is dynamic and ever-changing. Has your office space been evolving along with it? Maybe it’s time to think about an office renovation or remodeling – breathe new life into a stale space, update to add more functionality, shake things up and give a new face to your business. If any of the above appeal to you, we’re here to help take you through the process with four steps to a smooth planning process.

Lay the Framework

Before you dig in and tear down the wallpaper, you need to have a solid idea of what your project’s goals are. We can meet you onsite with an architect to help you start the process. Conceptual drawings are very inexpensive and allow us to help you stay within budget and set realistic goals. Some questions to ask yourself prior to meeting; What do you want to accomplish with your remodel or renovation? What sort of timeline are you working towards? What kind of budget do you have? What projects are most important?

Hire the Right People for the Job

Your renovation is only as good as the people behind it – so choose your service providers wisely. Make sure to do some research in advance to be sure the contractors both fit your budget and meet your expectations of quality work.

Check references, social media, reviews, and testimonials to make sure the contractor you choose will provide the experience and quality of work you are looking for. Once you’ve narrowed things down, interview your potential contractors. Ask them about previous projects, if they’ve taken on anything similar to your project. Find out how they handle things when issues arise. Honest, high quality contractors will be happy to answer these questions and more.

We’ll do some legwork for you, here are some testimonials from BG Southern clients, and you can of course contact us to discuss your project, we would love to hear from you!

Be Mindful with your Design

There are many things to take into consideration when planning your office renovation. If you are a more client-facing business, you’ll want to be sure to update the entry space, and have visitor’s comfort in mind as a general rule. Think about the corporate culture, and general feeling you want to create in your office. For example, did you know that different colors and combinations of colors can evoke different emotional responses and perceptions from your employees and visitors?

Also, decisions to add or remove large fixtures – or even walls – can make a big impact on the feel of your space, whether it’s more sectioned off and private, or open and airy. These choices should be made early on, as your decisions of the styles, furnishings, colors and placement will carry through the project from the start.

Be Ready for Anything

As you know, no project ever goes 100% according to plan. You can, however, be ready for what may come up. Research previous office renovations like yours to see what might come up and how to best handle it. Ask your contractor about any possible hurdles they foresee.

Don’t be caught short in the budget department either, set aside an additional 10-15% contingency, so if issues do arise, you’ll be able to roll with it painlessly.
